This system that we have languished by on for almost two years consistently and four years on and off has been abolished. Electing those who are meant to lead is a complete and utter failure, when only those who have the credentials for leadership should be leaders.
If leadership credentials are not to be had, then the second qualification is the ability to recruit. It was a requirement for quite some time to be recruiting as a sovereignty leader, or have that position taken away.
Only I have recruited consistently for this organization. Do not mistake single-game recruits as valuable. A recruit is only valuable if that recruit shares many games in common with the rest of the organization, thus perpetuating what |UGA| was meant to be, a multi-gaming organization.
Most of you, by the time you see this message, will have already noticed that I have drastically changed the format of TeamSpeak 3. Previously, we had 65 channels in TeamSpeak 3. This is more than a six-to-one ratio of channels to average number of active members on TeamSpeak 3 at a time. Today, I have brought that ratio down to four-to-one with 40 channels. I may further decrease the number of channels this coming week.
It does not reflect well on the server when a user joins only to require scrolling down to see who is online, and furthermore be daunted by the number of channels in the TeamSpeak.
Similarly with the forums, their greatest problem is complexity. We simply have too many forums with too many places for things to possibly go, leading people to not post on the forums at all.
Now, I have always been a strong advocate of looking to the stars—of representing the organization we want to be with our channels and with our forums. Sadly, this has been greatly...
Congratulations to our new Supercluster Commodores!
The anonymous voting system, though successful, showed no real difference to normal voting, so we will probably go back to normal voting next year. Next elections are on January 1st, unless we get little to no new recruits, in which case the Supercluster Council will be disbanded.
I have also put a cap on the number of Galactic Commanders equal to 2.5x the Supercluster Council, rounded to the nearest division of three, making the current cap 9. Galactic Commanders should either be running a sovereignty or be actively moderating. Right now we have a total of 9, but I need to give it back to chopstick and Areo because they had duplicates and I just removed all of their accounts.
Also, please make sure that you and your friends are on the Roster:
I hope everyone celebrated a good birthday weekend from |UGA|. As you can read on our wiki, |UGA|'s birthday was actually on Thursday, but according to Steam it was Friday. I'm actually somewhat sad that I didn't get a Villages and Pirates game going, or another game that the entire community can participate in.
As many of you know, we have a new ARK server! After @Chariotman was nice enough to give us a month of his ARK server (and get us all hooked!), I've restored our world onto my world. You can see all of our servers on GameTracker:
I am currently trying to restore the old Minecraft server and worlds to our current Minecraft server. For this, I had to start cleaning up our gaming server and delete unused content. We will be bringing down the Villages and Pirates Garry's Mod server because of this soon.
Meeting is for GC's and SC's taking place July 24th and 25th 2015 8 pm eastern. I believe it is in our best intrests to regularaly have meetings every weekend to make sure things are running as effiecently and smoothly as possible. This will be a chance for everyone to address issues with the rest of the staff so please attend and use it as an opportunity to voice complaints and ideas to further the community.
The one day bans on Shiryu and TechPanda were unjust.
Not because they did nothing wrong. Rather, both had transgressed in their respective instances enough to warrant a ban. However, the length of punishment was chosen without due process, going immediately to a one-day ban without anything intermittent.
The punishment order for a single night is as follows:
First transgression: Warning or kick the member to cease and desist.
If the member belongs to the group of the present sovereignty leader:
5 minute ban for small transgressions, such as a direct, blatant insult, i.e. racial pejoratives, sexist pejoratives, IRL references.
60 minute ban for a serious transgression but not one that would require an inquiry, i.e. minor trolling or griefing.
If the member does not belong to the group of the present sovereignty leader:
Warning the user that re-entering the channel will result in an immediate...
There has been some confusion over what qualifies as spam and what punishments it entails.
Spam is the repetition of unwanted text, imagery, sound, or actions.
Sending an overwhelming amount of text messages is spam.
Sending repetitive unwanted imagery.
Playing unwanted repetitive sounds over the mic.
Switching channels multiple times in TeamSpeak.
Based on these criteria, internet shock sites qualify as spam. Sending of them in TeamSpeak or any other |UGA| medium will not be tolerated.
As many of you know, Planetary Ensigns must be in TeamSpeak for 30 days with moderate activity, and have a forum account to be promoted to System Lieutenant. I am currently working on cleaning the System Lieutenants list from users who are not registered on the forums. However, this runs into a logistical issue.
How do we keep track of which users have a forum account?
The best way to do this would be to set a user's description field to the URL of his/her forum...
Also, I am promoting two people on the Magnets and Waffles server:
SkyrimShuffle - Trial to Moderator
Johnathan - Trial to Moderator
I always reward effort and it is the fault of my own laziness and excuses that I didn't log into SourceBans and promote Skyrim two weeks ago, but after my motherboard completely failed, I realize that I need to get back to working on the servers in any way I can before I get my computer fixed.
I also know that Skyrim will display getting promoted over Jonathan, but both of them have done a good job of populating the server, and are both individuals I want on the admin team going forward as Magnets and Waffles fills up to 20 people with no admins online.
This is a summary of the two meetings that were held last night, for those of you who did not attend or could not make it.
Revamp of Ranking Systems, Promotions and Demotions.
Jiya Re (Freiturnier) was promoted from Galactic Commander to SuperCluster Commodore.
L.G.Dynamo (Dejha Seo) was promoted from Galactic Commander to SuperCluster Commodore.
Rezin was promoted from Galactic Commander to SuperCluster Commodore.
Space Ace was promoted from Galactic Commander to SuperCluster Commodore.
The Galactic Command Center (The Galactic Commanders) were all temporarily demoted, until they apply via the forums. The only exception is SuperND, who kept his Galactic Commander.
Current State of the "Constitution"
The Constitution is honestly in Shambles and Ignored at this point, so once the Galactic Commanders apply, the Super-Clusters and Galactic-Commanders will come together to make a more concise set of rules and guidelines.
I'm proud to announce our Christmas promotions (a little early)!
chopstick has been promoted to supermod.
squireboy has been promoted to moderator.
Happy Carrots has been promoted to moderator.
Hockeyjonchamp15 has been promoted to moderator.
SkyrimShuffle has been approved to trial.
Chariotman has been promoted to trial.
You can now post Admin Abuse Reports that will only be visible to me, Rezin, and chopstick here:
Also, I added two commands to the server that allow me to fix users who have had their time blanked due to the regular script. I have fixed SkyrimShufffle, Chariotman, and The Dog's time. If you also lost hours, please talk to me.
Hello to all |UGA| members! New and old, guests and members.
As you may know, last weekend I finished a revamp of TeamSpeak that was intended to remove the channel bloat that came from extreme scope creep. We had 100 channels and less than 20 active members. I have flagged 15 channels for deletion, and after deleting the Phantasy Star Online 2, Lost Saga, League of Legends, and Dota 2 channels, we are down to 65 channels in TeamSpeak.
We now have 4 Supremacy groups, 10 States, and 10 Commonwealth channels. Based on the input of both Jiya Re and hero respectively, we have made the States channels specific to individual games until they can be promoted to Supremacies, and Commonwealths are generic game channels.
We only have one AFK channel, I have brought back The Quiet Channel, and we have a new policy for file transfers. I will change the permissions of TeamSpeak so that you can only upload files to a single channel. This way, I don't have to clean up the FTP directory for...
Pat and I are discussing a site wide currency system. This would work to implement raffles and ingame purchases. The way this would work is extremely simple. The more you read, reply to, and create threads, you get money.
Money which is only usable with UGA content. This money can go to buying raffle tickets for monthly or weekly game drawings. You will be able to purchase ingame items for things like Magnets and Waffles. In Minecraft, you would be able to purchase custom templates for your structures, bonus exp drop and much more.
